At High Park Doodles, we strive to provide each breeding dog in our program a wonderful life in a loving home. By placing our precious breeding dogs in Guardian Homes, the dogs receive more individualized attention, and our breeding program has the available dogs required to develop healthy and happy puppies. Guardian homes are very carefully selected pet owners who have met our requirements to provide a loving and forever home in a stable environment to a male or female puppy that we've identified as a potential fit for our breeding program. Guardian homes are selected to raise, nurture, and train these exceptional puppies. This puppy will not only be your forever pet, but will also play an integral role in the development of the magnificent Doodle breed.

Most Guardian Homes will raise a puppy, but occasionally I will have adolescent and adult dogs available. The breeding career of girl dogs can last until her 4th or 5th birthday, while a boy dog's breeding career can last until his 7th birthday. Girls start breeding between 18-24 months of age, and boys start closer to 12-18 months of age. The breeding responsibility of boys vs. girls is quite different in the demands it will place on the Guardian Home. (Topic is covered in more detail below) Once the dog's breeding career ends, High Park Doodles will cover the cost to spay/neuter the dog and he/she now belongs 100% to the Guardian.

Own a healthy, well-bred, well-socialized puppy without the upfront adoption fee cost! Guardians will be required to pay for normal pet ownership costs such as: routine vet care, premium dog food, dog training & obedience classes, pet supplies and grooming. All costs associated with breeding are covered by High Park Doodles, such as genetic testing, OFA health exams, and reproductive costs. High Park Doodles will also cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery once the breeding career ends.

Guardian Homes receive the very best dogs that High Park Doodles has to offer! The following is the list of requirements a Guardian Home must fulfill:  

• You must live within 150km of High River,  Alberta. 

• You must own your own home. 

• Your backyard must be fully fenced.  A yard inspection will be required before a Guardian Home application is approved.  

• Primary caregiver must have a schedule that allows the dog to NOT be left alone for extended periods on a regular basis. 

• Dog must be an indoor dog and be provided plenty of opportunities for exercise and play. 

• Dog must follow the nutritional and dietary guidelines as laid out in our Guardian Program guide.  To keep with breeding program consistency (and to make it easier on your momma when she comes to stay with us), we recommend that the female Guardian dogs be fed the same dry food diet as what we provide the dogs in our home.

• Guardians must have reliable transportation and be willing to occasionally bring the dog to us at various times for breeding related appointments. 

• Guardians must train or have someone else train their dog to follow basic commands. 

• Most importantly, Guardians must be able to provide a stable and loving home for this special dog.
